SANTA AND THE TOOTH FAIRY
by Shirley Friedman

I saw Santa sitting on the roof,
Dressed in red with great big leather boots.
He waved at me and said "I've got to leave
But I'll be back on another Christmas Eve."

Then I saw the pillow that he had.
And his voice was exactly like my Dad.
But of course I knew it just couldn't be
Cause my Dad spends a lot of time with me.

I saw the tooth fairy peeking in my shoe.
She left a coin so I knew that it was true.
Then she smiled, and I heard her call
"I'll be back when another tooth falls."

She looked like mum, I thought for a while.
The same blue eyes, and a similar smile.
But of course I knew it just couldn't be
Cause my Mum spends a lot of time with me.

As I grow big Santa won't always call.
And I can't expect to see the tooth fairy at all.
But I don't mind if it really can't be.
I'd rather Mum and Dad spent time with me.
