LOW-DOWN MELANCHOLY BLUES
by Shirley Friedman

Don't know what's wrong with me, I can't explain.
I only know I feel slightly inane.
Sometimes I wanna cry. Don't know the reason why,
But mis-rable am I. I'm blue again.

Woke up this morning around about eight.
Can't stop my yawnin' although it was late.
I'm feeling snappy. Not very happy.
I've got those low-down melancholy blues.

Not feelin' hungry, the food makes me choke.
My man is angry, but then it's no joke.
Won't let him hold me. Afraid he'll scold me.
I've got those low-down melancholy blues.

It's a terrible miserable feeling to know.
When you wish you could die
Cause you're feeling so low.

But come another day I know I'll find.
I've left those low-down blues way back behind.
Till then I'm feeling bad, depressed downcast and sad.
I've got those low-down melancholy blues.
